Oh boy... um...
"Well, that's the rancid olive in my martini of misery"-- when something happnes to just really pile poop on top of more poop. Yes, I really do say that. I'm very fond of "Always a pony somewhere" when I'm trying to find the bright side. My husband says I and my brother have a verbal tic that he's heard no one else use, including anyone else in our family. He says we have a way of saying, "ohhhh" when someone tells us something. He says, translated, it means, "I'm really not very interested in what you just said, but I'm trying to be polite." Now, how he figured THAT out I have no idea. Because he's exactly right. |

That's another one I use a lot-- "you lie like a rug." Oh, and "Daytime! What the--" Which I can't even explain, really. It's a line from one of the puppet shows at the zoo that somehow worked it's way into my vernacular. |

I would have to say my most common saying is when someone does something a bit stupid I tend to mumble..."man you need to stay off that crack....."

Hear the difference? ![]() And, while we're on the subject of language, here's a very entertaining essay: http://www.slate.com/id/2146866/?nav=tap3 It's entitled 'In Defense of the Word 'Sucks'" Or something like that. Fun reading and I learned something, too! Last edited by GenuineRisk : 08-03-2006 at 09:20 PM. |
