Great story.. One of the reasons I love this site..I don't have anyone close thats into horse racing and can share stories like that with. Too bad you did'nt cash in on that ticket... That would have topped the cake right there.

I hit the exacta in that race because I used the 5 on top. That was very bizzare. I didn't realize that it was a seagull that caused that horse to do that. That's pretty wild.

I had .20 cent left on my voucher when I got done with my plays yesterday, so used it on the 9th @ Gulfstream - 5-4-11-7/9 dime super, what comes out 5-9-11-4....should have just keyed the 5 with 4/7/9/11 and bang, a winner collecting $84.00 for my $2.40 wager. Just should have played it originally instead of throwing it in to finish off the voucher.

I was on track and there was no seagull anywhere near him. He just ducked in erratically once he cleared the 5 and dumped Gonzalez.

Good story Jim.
My question is, if it actually had come in, would you have embraced random supers as your new betting strategy? |

I had the trifecta with the 10. I agree with Bigs. there was no seagull what was happening was in my opinion.. I was going to cash a bet and...
actually the jockey was trying to keep the horse from veering into the 5. Jock was trying to lean like he was on a motorcycle and bring the horse away from the rail/ #5 horse. His mount went the opposite way and ta da. Bigs was Luis (I think that's who it was) was the jock ok? Anyway.. I was gold at Tampa until that race. I hit the 1st race and just kept rolling. the jockey gets dumped and everything fell apart. I hate when I win my first bet. the rest of the day is downhill. I don't know what it is. I lose my concentration when things are going well or anyway.... Jim I wish you would have hit the Super. I wouldn't feel so bad about losing the trifecta.. even if it were a little chalky

I said seagull because I saw one dart across right at that time. it may not have had anything to do with the incident though, if thats what those on the scene report. when i first saw how close I came to having the super, I thought "damn no luck!" and then I thought a little more about it and laughed. |

Jim, your story makes me think of a very dopey ex-friend of mine. He bets a ton of money, and in the old days when we all bet with tellers, I can't tell you the number of times he would mispunch ( always claiming it was the first time he ever did it ) and miss a big tri or other such good score. Well, once at Saratoga he showed up with this lament while I was with a very sharp non-horseplayer friend of mine. After the dope left my sharp friend said " Imagine all the times he has mispunched and mistakenly had a winning ticket and thrown it away. "

I once got the race numbers off by one and bet two back to back races wrong. The first I would have won, but lost, and cost myself about $500. The second, I would have lost, but won, and got all the money back plus a few bucks on a horse I wouldn't have bet to save my life. I did realize my mistake when my balance didn't go up, but couldn't cancel the second bet online. I did bet what I originally meant to bet in the second contest, and of course lost.
