Final speed figures are an important tool but don't tell the whole story. The figures must be viewed in terms of the trip, and the competition. Elite Squadron is not a stakes quality speedball. Commentator has already proven that when he faces inferior rivals, he will run it up and put up a monster number. When you are 1-5 you are expected to blow away the competiton.

1 1/8?
9 furlongs?
1 2/16?
8.5 furlongs (plus another half furlong)?

I wait for your answer. Also, be sure to leave out what other horses are entered in this hypothetical race, what the surface and pace are like, and other useless things like that. I just want you to tell me in some vague and meaningless way, who you think would win.

Could you let us know what #'s you are looking at?

Commentator's final time for the 7f was 1:23.23.

Curlin's last breeze before he left for Dubai was 7f in 1:23.60.

Curlin's maiden, on the same track, same distance, I think, was faster. And he didn't even know how to run at that time.

This is a joke, right?
