I know you're a big El Gato Malo fan, but do you think he was getting by Colonel John on Saturday even if they went around again? I don't.

Yes, I do. EGM had no chance of running down a good horse after those slow fractions. Had he been running in the Risen Star, he would have looked just like Pyro did.

Elysium Fields would be in my top ten but I can't put him ahead of Cool Coal Man for a couple reasons. One, I liked Cool Coal Man better going into the FOY and Cool Coal Man beat him there even though Elysium Fields likely ran the better race. Based on their body of work though I think it is more likely that Cool Coal Man can duplicate or improve upon that performance. The other reason is that Cool Coal Man should have the earnings to get in the Derby. We don't know that with Elysium Fields. If EF were to draw post 10-12 for the Florida Derby he would have a very tough time coming up with the graded stakes earnings to get in the field. He might have to go in the Lexington or Holy Bull at that point which would hurt his chances come May.
