![]() From Racing Post.....
Papal Bull heads Princess of Wales's entries Lewis Porteous LAST year's winner Papal Bull, heads 17 entries for this year's renewal of the Group 2 Princess of Wales's WBX.com Stakes at Newmarketon July 10. The son of Montjeu looked as good as ever when beaten just over two lengths in what now looks a very good renewal of the Coronation Cup at Epsom in June. Papal Bull, who has looked a tricky ride in the past, put up a career best effortthat day when beaten by subsequent Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud first and second Youmzain and Soldier Of Fortune. The Group 2 event over 1m4f has also attracted last year's fourth Lucarno, who went on to lift the St Leger after going down by just three lengths in this event. Trainer John Gosden will be hoping his Classic winner can find his form after two disappointing efforts so far this term. Other notable contenders include Richard Fahey's consistent mare Anna Pavlova and Luca Cumani's improving four year-old Lion Sands, who looked well worth a try in better company when winning the Listed Fred Archer Stakes over course and distance last Saturday. Cumani could also be represented by another four year-old in the shape of Speed Gifted, who finished fourth in the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot last month. Godolphin could rely on Ascot Gold Cup fifth Sagara and Brazilian import Happy Boy. |
