Interesting. Seems that NYS is now responsible for the maintenance of the properties.

Doesn't matter what is said or eludes to it is what is posted. If you are a rentor or lessor how much interest are you going to have in spending millions of dollars in improvements?

Sorry if I spoke for you. That is certainly not what I was trying to say in my post.

I don't think it is as simple as saying now that NYRA doesn't "own" they tracks, they have no motive to put money into them.

They are there for 25 years and I don't think they would take a different approach if they land claim was still floating out there.

Without the franchise they don't exist. I think the lease versus the "potentially or likely" own point is probably moot aside from the negotiating leverage.

So every business that doesnt own the building that it does business in justs lets it fall apart or doesnt put any effort into keeping it nice? They have a 25 year lease, it is not like you are renting a condo for 6 months. Plus I believe that under the provisions of the agreement there is a certain amout that they are obligated to spend each year on backstretch improvements.

I guess no one will ever be completely pleased with racing in N.Y. (but they will STILL play... )
