Taylor played it smart apparently.
I did not get to see the fight but read the progress.
Most people stated the fight was closer than the judging.
The summary seemed to be Pavlik is a better boxer.
Taylor has tired down the stretch before, I guess he
pulled this again.
Also it read like no one really got hurt, so I dont think
it was a bad bet.

Taylor fought not to get knocked out. In some of the middle rounds he hardly threw a punch. He was pretty effective when he did fight but rarely followed up and got aggressive. I thought the judging was pretty accurate simply because when the rounds are close as many of them are you are supposed to favor the busier guy which Pavlick was. I believe he connected with over a 100 more punches than Taylor did. It was a bit anticlimatic after the first fight but neither guy was willing to expose himself too much. If Taylor fought in the days of 15 round fights he would have been not much more than an average fighter because he tires so badly. For a guy that was not very active he got awfully tired. He did do a good job of staying off the ropes and keeping in the center of the ring but in the end he simply didnt throw enough punches. Pavlick gets hit an awful lot and he seems to have a tough chin but that may be his undoing down the road.

That was really apparent in the first fight.
Nonetheless he is so ready to take on fights
that I have to like him. Hope that does not change.

Taylor had problems tiring against Bhop in those
fights also. He claimed he would be in better shape
for this fight. He has a stamina problem. This is not
the days of yore 15 round affairs. Jermaine probably
gets himself some more big pay days after this though.
I think he put himself back on the map. Some guys wilt
after getting knocked out for the first time. I got to
give him credit for getting back in.

You are probably right about Taylor not fighting to win
late. From what I read Pavlik was the clear aggressor late.
Even though this fight was not for a title, you cant
win going backwards against a guy that has already
beat you in the late rounds of a close fight.
