![]() I mean, I was never a Ghostzapper fan, but I would say he's universally acknowledged in the horse racing world as one of the best dirt horses in the last 25 years. To put Bernardini not only on his level but ABOVE his level after two pretty good races....seriously, that would be comical if someone weren't really believeing that nonsense.

Like Doc Fager said....if we're talking soundness, sure, to this point in his career, Bernardini wins that competition, but really....the best in a long, long time? Are you ready to put Bernardini in whose category? Affirmed? Spectacular Bid? Cigar? Really, what do you mean by long, long time. That's an awfully bold use of superlative in describing what could be a two race wonder.

"I think it was more impressive than when he ran in the Preakness (gr. I)," Albertrani said Sunday. "It was basically a public workout. He came out of it great. He came back as if he didn't even run." Like he didn't even run, and he threw up a 114. Unbelievable. GZ would need another 3 months off like he did between all his races. GZ was an unsound horse, this horse is anything but. |

No one is suggesting that Bernardini is not a good horse, but to compare him to GZ already...? I think Bernardini is an excellent colt, and he should do well in the BCC...but let's wait and see how he does for a few more races before we start comparing him to GZ and Secretariat, okay? |

![]() All I know is that if a 3 yo does not win two of the three TC races (P given, Charismatic), it's virtually impossible for a 3 yo to win HoY. For Bernadini to get HoY, he MUST win the Travers and the BCC. No horse got HoY off a Preakness/Dandy/Travers sweep, notwithstanding 110+ Beyers.
Not easy to do, especially vs a full field of older horses in great form like he'll see in the BCC. And if Lava Man wins the Pacific, it probably won't matter anyway. |
