This is horrible but unfortunately, this is the way the game goes today. There will always be a grade one race out there that's nothing more than allowance level quality and horses that have no business with the title of grade one winner.....become just that.

I guess the past winners of this race reads very well but has it been a Grade 1 quality race in recent years?

I wasn't speaking to the year to year quality of the race and whether it should or shouldn't be a grade one. I was looking at this specific running and whether or not it was up to what should be grade one standards.

The average last beyer in the Las Virgenes is a 75, and the only horse coming off a win found that victory in a 6-horse MSW.
