I'll give you that. Some forms of cancer are definitely the result of poor choices. I should have used a different disease as an example I guess.

In this case, the idea of heredity and genes means nothing to me. Intelligence is also passed on through genes.

Yes, but not like Texas-style death penalty where it turns into straight eye-for-eye. However, I do believe there are some people(very few) who have earned that right.

You make an assertion that somehow intellegence is tied to these issues and you are insulted? Maybe you are intellegent. But you may also be ignorant. Look that up.

The reason i put the word intelligence in there is because, according to the widely used definition, those people who lack intelligence(including me in your opinion) would be considered to have a "disease" as well. We're not all wired the same. That doesn't mean that everybody with faults has a "disease", no matter how difficult that fault is to deal with for that person.

if he was in jail already the odds that two innocent people would not be dead are good.

Just tired of everytime someone commits a crime the victims are ignored

Sorry if you took offense.A fault is one thing. Being rude or pig headed are faults. A "fault" that directly leads to destructive behavior is more than a fault.

I don't think we are disagreeing on cancer....look..I lost both parents to a type of cancer they certainly didn't "deserve"..

but you are dismissing alcoholism as a weakness or lack of intelligence when that is simply not true and is a diservice to anyone who has ever struggled with this DISEASE...yes..DISEASE. I got a DUI in 2000, something i am certainly not proud of..part of my sentence was to spend 30 days community service at a home for alcoholics who were in a very bad way. These were succesful, intelligent people for the most part who had lost everything to this sickness...family, homes, all money, etc...They did not suffer from a weakness...they suffer from a disease
