all i know is that i haven't voted wrong since i've started. and that doesn't mean i always picked the winner, either. i'm better off then four years ago, and eight, and twelve...12 years ago was better than 16... some like to come here, and elsewhere, with their sky is falling bullsh!t. but this country is bigger and better than one senator, one president, a supreme court justice, etc. those people serve at our leisure. but if you sleep better at night thinking your taxpayer money is funding a bunch of monsters...hey, go for it. and a reminder-i'm a vet, married to a vet, and the mother of an active duty sailor. i've earned the right to say what i say, and i bought you that same right. deal with it.

There are a lot of us going at it. I have a sister in the Navy, my grandpa fought in Vietnam, my trainer's husband fought in Vietnam (he's even mentioned in some books) (and I've been riding with them for 8+ years), my boyfriend's grandpa fought for the Americans in the Vietnam (colonel) War, and my best friend from childhood just went into the military along with my next door neighbor from child hood. I'm seen some vets at the college that I used to tutor in biology and chemistry that were messed up from fighting in Iraq. It is truly a job with no glory. My sister is in the intelligence part of the Navy just to try to find out what was going on because she knew things went on that weren't supposed to. My sister is brillant. My sister was a 4.0 student. I don't know why she didn't go to the Naval Academy. She could have gone to any college she wanted to, and she chose this path. She is getting ready to be deployed on the ship and is currently stationed in **** Town (san francisco). And here is the punch line: my sister and my trainer's husband are on my side with this. I respect all of the soldiers in Iraq now. I respect their lives. I respect what you did. I respect your son. But, we are not fighting for freedom. We are fighting for oil. They are dying so that certain people in America can make more money. It is a war over resources and money. Not freedom. Not democracy. It is my duty as an American to warn others about this. It is my duty to fight for democracy and civil liberties here in my own country. I fight through passive words because that is all that I can do. It is my duty to expose the the traitors so that I can protect the soldiers. They are dying needlessly. IMO, anyone who is willing to give up their freedoms for security, deserves neither. |

![]() there was a 'girl' who posted here some time ago who posted pics of 'herself'. so much for that.
as for the war for oil bs, i think that's an oversimplification. lots of places have oil, but very few also invaded an ally, moved their forces to possibly invade a second ally, and lobbed missiles at a third ally. iraq was a threat to our nations security, and to our allies security. the govt we elected decided to go back and finish things up- i have no problem with that at all. '91 wasn't finished. the u.n. showed that they were even more incompetent then most thought originally, saddam thumbed his nose at everything he agreed to for the original cease fire, and the previous, democratic admin was as belligerent toward iraq as the republican admin that followed. that whole drama took a decade to come to fruition. as to how your passive words are going to keep soldiers alive, i don't know. my son was a volunteer, who willingly joined. he knows what that entails. if his govt tells him to go, he does. and there will always be naysayers, just like with any other issue. there's always more than one side. i'm all for protection of civil rights, as i've stated elsewhere. repeatedly. that's my point, there are more issues than just the war, which has taken a decided turn for the better. as for mccain saying we may be there 100 years, we may be. just like we've been in japan for the last 60, as well as germany. i just don't like it when i see someone give more benefit of the doubt to ANYONE elsewhere, but not to their own country. i don't follow blindly, but nor do i feel that our president, our congress, is full of monstrous beings who lie, cheat and steal no matter the cause. ineptitude, sure. mistakes, no doubt. but don't be extreme about it. i personally don't care for extremes. there's no room for discussion, no room to wiggle.

Even if McCain wouldn't have said those crazy things, I still wouldn't have voted for him because he is an idiot when it comes to economics. Whoa, I never said our Congress was full of monstrous beings. Another false accusation. I also never said that I was giving the other countries the benefit of the doubt before our own country. Haha.... I'm not going to extremes. You are. I wiggle. I said that certain parts of the Japanese Parliament's accusations could be true. I didn't say whether or not they were true. You said there is no way. I said that the U.S. could possibly be torturing people based on the reports. I did not say whether these things were true or not because I do not know, but the possibility exists. You are exactly the opposite. You are not wiggling. You think that they couldn't possibly be true. The Bush Administration lied. We went to war under false pretenses for oil as specified in the Bush Administration's foreign policy. It's there for all to see. This has nothing to do with another country saying this and that. This has to do with what the government within our own country says in a foreign policy document called PNAC. All you have to do is read it, and then maybe you will open your eyes and wiggle a little bit. I seriously doubt it though even with the proof being right there in front of you. What is so extreme about the truth? Yep, they are sure doing a fine job of "finishing things up". How many lives have been loss? How long have we been over there now? I don't know exactly, but I do know that it has been a long time. Getting the word out might get the soldiers out faster because those wanting to get into office typically go with what the voters want because it gives them a better chance of being elected. Right now, the view of the Iraq war is very unfavorable throughout the country. If the Dems get into office, I think you see a withdrawal of the soldiers. Then, we will not have finished anything. By the way, the polls have been all over the news about the unfavorable view of our government. Also the polls about opinions on the Iraq war are on the news. I'm sure that you can find them anywhere. I don't feel like looking them up. Last edited by kentuckyrosesinmay : 02-02-2008 at 02:27 PM. |
