they scratched the 1 , which reduced the show price on the 2... so i canceled the show dutch.. would have hit.

It's a novelty bet. Obviously the trifecta is a better pool when you pick two longshots to finish in the money.

You take 3-1 on the relatively high percentage play. However you should also hit the trifecta in that situation("longshot in the money/8horse field").
