Wow....I thought Gayego was a standout in the post parade. But maybe I am biased because I own a Gilded Time gelding. Very happy to see this horse running so well (so far). He's a big, strong, nice looking fella.

I got caught up in how Meal Penalty looked and thought the favorite would cook himself with fast fractions. Thought Meal Penalty would be closer to the pace and be the one to pounce. Right idea, wrong horse.

Pretty good job by DTers in Contest Week #3. The rate of loss was 11.7%, well under the track take. Our overall rate of loss is now 14.2%.

This week there were 54 cappers who posted picks, so the amount bet was $648. The winning tickets added to $572.

Here are the overall results through the first 7 races of the contest:
# of picks: 426
Amount bet: $2556
Amount won: $2192.50
% return: (2192.50-2556)/2556 = -14.2%

21 cappers are still showing an overall profit. (down from 26 last week).

I was at Oaklawn, but didn't get there until the 5th race so sadly no Smarty Jones bobblehorse to go with my Smarty Jones Diploma and flashing lapel button that they gave away the day that Smarty won the Kentucky Derby.
They do some silly stuff sometimes during the simulcast season. Just about anything to get people in there. Some of it is not too bad like when they put names in a barrel and then draw out a name and give that person a hundred dollars to wager on a race. Amazing how many times people put the hundred on a horse to show and it runs up the track.
