Interesting coming from Justin Zayat in the interview:
Mushka - any day dreams she follows in Rags to Riches steps and goes for the Belmont ? I mean Empire Maker, Seeking the Gold, Seattle Slew, are all in her pedigree tracing back to foundation mare Comely Nell, 1 1/2 shouldn't be a problem, she could probably run from AQU to Belmont and still whip most horses. Justin- Mushka is a maybe for the triple crown trail, we are hoping she is the next Rags to Riches, her move in the Demoiselle was eye popping. But I think the Zayat horse for the Derby would be Alaazo, you should watch his maiden race he is a really good one. Mushka could go there but I would want her to run in the Oaks cause she is much tougher than the other fillies I’ve seen. I like Zayat Stable’s chances for pulling a double Derby weekend for sure. |

It seems it would be easier for a filly to win the Belmont than the Derby overall when you look at the history of the races and the quality of each field, particularly in recent years. |

Here is a link to an article about (and a picture from) the Arlington-Washington Futurity. There is a good picture of the top two at the finish and you also get Rene Douglas's (Riley Tucker's jock) comments on the race:
