If you want to compete with the big boys, and no that doesn't include Miami, you need to schedule your non-conference games accordingly. No more Kent State.

Now this is downright stupid.

First...lsu won. The better team won...OK?

They play it once....claiming 10/10 doesn't change a thing or mean a thing. It was certainly no blowout. Getting out gained in yardage and getting only 326 as lsu did ...does not support it. Neither do the losing teams 4 turnovers to lsu's 1.Neither does a 14 point win.

I offer no excuse and by the same hand will not accpet any from seckey mouse fans concerning any other issue.

And take a look at every seckey teams own ooc...almost every year. Shameful. Let's not be twofaced about this.

If the BT is overrated then how is it the head to head in bowls the last 2 years is dead even?

I have a LOT more...but will check back for more eye-popping remarks.

You may well have lost without the 4 turnovers .

You won...let's not make it seem like it was 800 to 0.

I'll check back when Ohio State beats a SEC team in a bowl game...so that'll be never.

Well keep tabs on your 12-11-1 record against Miami of Ohio and your 5-20 or worse record against Michigan.

Well that confirms it..your head is empty.

Your guy didn't knock it out...our guy dropped it.

Dont let the announcers tell you what isn't happening.

I think Penn St is able to win because they are often a second level Big 10 team and are playing second level SEC teams and even though it seems that this year the SEC has been the far better conference, usually the two are pretty evenly matched once you get past the top teams. Eight times out of 10 though, the top two from the SEC will beat the top two from the Big 10. Penn St and some other B-10 schools can compete with some SEC schools. But in any given year, if Penn St ends up as the best B-10 school, they'd likely suffer the same fate as OSU does when they play the best SEC school.
=============

Like Michigan defeating one of the teams in the sec champ. game.

In their own backyard.

Eauxh...forgot to clarify...that was UNRANKED Michigan beating 12TH RANKED in all the land Florida.

i just read through the osu roster. about 33 of the 100 man is from OUT of state. at a quick glance that i could pick out about HALF of the starting defense is from out of state. even the starting rb is NOT home grown.

He was born in Akron!!

Do you just spit out whatever strikes you!!?

Facts. Look at the recievers, backs, defensive backs for all of the top 50 teams in college and throughout the NFL. Defensive linemen and probably linebackers too. You will find that the vast majority are black. On the flip side, look at offensive linemen and you will find that most are white. Why this is the case is something that I don't know the answer too. But the facts are there. That's why I don't get bothered with analysts point out these things.

I think that is something that is changing rapidly. Already the D-Line seems to have had a shift and I'm sure the O-Line will follow. What will be interesting is how long it takes for a shift to occur at the QB position where racial stereotypes are still common. It doesn't take a genetic engineer to realize that the top athletes on the planet are all black.

1. Texas is the 2nd most populous state. (thank you peegarden the obvious)
2. Texas emphasizes football like no other state
on the High School level. It is a huge cultural thing.
The High Schools revolve around football teams.
The bands, the numerous dance teams, the ROTC
I can keep going... are huge organizations that football
spawned. Friday nights (Its now really Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights) are huge events. All these little Texas towns cultural activity is centered around football. It is quite extraordinary.

Climate is not the whole story. Many parts of Texas are excessively hot in the summer and in the panhandle, cold in the winter being along way from the Gulf warmth. California has a much more moderate climate overall and since the majority of the population is next to the Pacific (which moderates temperatures in summer and winter) they should have all the players. But California does not on the High School level. So the climate factor is not as important as the cultural one.

Texas is football crazed. Heck, the Big 12 is really conference Texas. Every team in the Big 12 this year had very good players from Texas. LSU recruits heavily in East Texas, Oklahoma has about 50% players from Texas and usually their very best players from North Texas. Nebraska use to rape Texas of players, but they dont anymore and look what happened.

Jeez Louise, even Miami, Florida, and Florida St. get great players out of Texas. One of the best RBs in the State is going to Michigan. 2 of the top lineman going to Notre Dame... on and on.
Climate is not the whole story but I have to believe it's a big part of it. I agree that in Texas, it is more of a cultural thing though. Same as it is with some parts of California. Look at De La Salle High School. Mater Dei High School. Those teams are perennial national powers. Why is that? The culture.

There's something quite odd about California though. With the most people and arguably the best weather (outside of Florida of course), they should dominate a lot more than they do. But they never have. When I was coming up, my parents split up and I stayed back in Tennessee while my mom moved out here to CA. I'd come out here often and I couldn't put my finger on it but there is just something different about the CA athletes. They don't seem to have the same hunger or drive that athletes from other places do. Maybe it's because they have so many other options to choose from. In Tennessee in the winter, we had to be really serious about playing basketball, sometimes shoveling snow in order to clear a court. There weren't many other things to do. In California, it might be 85 in December so kids might be out at the beach or at the mall or doing anything. It's just so much more laid back out here. Maybe it's the economy. They have a little more money and more opportunity so they don't see making it in sports as their way out of the situations they are in. I don't know exactly what it is but it's something.

By the way, Seattle totally outplayed Green Bay. If that game had been in Seattle, it would have been a different story. A play or two could have changed the whole game. If two of those passes that Favre threw for touchdowns had been intercepted and returned for Seattle touchdowns, the Hawks would have won 34-28. It was that close.
