I applaud Chuck for finding the horse. When I looked at her pps earlier today I was impressed. Always good to claim someone you're confident you can improve upon.

I may be wrong, and I don't want to burst your bubble, but I doubt you'll be receiving owners treatment on Bev D day.
i agree, we need to stay where we belong with her, and move thru the condition book. definitely an excellent claim for 20k. some may disagree, but i wouldn't have shed a tear had she gotten claimed yesterday. she's turning out to be a nice one, but her helping us to get a nicer one would be great!

Not at all. If someone wanted to hand Dee Tee a 50k check yesterday, we would all wish KNS well and there would've been a party (and Chuck would be on the lookout for our next horse).

That's a big part of the fun of being involved in a "public" horse. We can all speculate, argue and throw in our two cents.

Luckily, we have Steve and Chuck to lend some levity to the situation and do the right thing by the horse. In the meantime, we can all debate her merits and enjoy the ride.

my daughter asked yesterday 'what is she gets claimed?' i told her i'd do a happy dance, and wait with eager anticipation to see what chuck found for us with mo money.

You are absolutely correct!! But, based on my experience, it can also be a nightmare for a manager, especially when you are dealing with new owners. Sometimes, when the newbies don't completely have a grasp of things, expectations get whack and it makes it hard to manage.

I'm pleased to see some here acknowledging a claim wouldn't have been a bad thing yesterday. Cash is king when you own claimers and there's nothing wrong with turning over horses and making $$'s in the process. A $30k capital appreciation would have been something to be proud of - that's a big part of succeeding in the claiming game.

If ANY horse gets claimed at Tampa for 50k it is front page news.

It is more of a 5k track

Ok I need to be educated.
I have just watched the replay.

Coming into the 2nd turn and then into the 2nd turn the 7 horse cleared KNS who was rail all the way. Daylight was present to the outside but then closed. imo there was plenty of time to leave the rail but KNS stayed...

Help me here?

I know we of course like to save ground but the horse a ton left. No move to the outside on the turn because it was likely horses would tire and an opening was certain to occur?

So much left is the only reason I am asking.

Help me here. Not meaning to 2nd guess, just need some reasoning.
I thought the trip was great and when I watched the replay I was thinking there is the opening... perfect timing... but "we" stayed rail. Then of course it got very tough after that. But a wonderful finish.

You don't move a horse outside into or while in a turn when you've "got" horse under you and you've been saving ground with intent. The reasoning is that the tiring horse(s) ahead of you will bear out OFF THE TURN as they tire and open the rail where you've been in the catbird seat because you have horse.

The tiring horse in front of KNS and Rosie couldn't even make it to the top of the stretch before tiring and started to back up surprisingly early. Especially given the fractions to three-quarters. Rosemary had no choice but to wait until a seam developed and hope that there wasn't too much ground to make up once in the open. Unfortunately, there was..

But you don't 'give up' your rail position because you think 'there may be trouble later'... It's easy to say "that was the place to move" after the fact when you know what happened a quarter of a mile later..

Now see this is what is interesting because it was not after the fact. While watching the race I said to myself holy !!!! a little daylight, now the move. I expected it while watching the race before I knew there would be trouble. I had no idea where the trouble was going to occur.

But I do understand the idea of the tired turf horses bearing out unable to hold a tight turn while weakened and then moving past on the inside instead of swinging wide.

Thanks.

Don't try and project your ability for rational thought on jockeys!

Congrats to all of Kickn's connections. I have a feeling about this filly. I told Genuine that the other day. She ran a VERY nice race.

Chuck, you must be doing something right! Sorry I wasn't able to meet up with you all in Tampa. I have been taking too much time off from work lately so I didn't feel right about asking for another day off.

I hope I get to see her run someday.

Even though the fractions were not terribly quick,
still looks like the horse can run for a long time.

And jocks are always being second guessed.
You get put in a position that is not entirely
expected, just bad luck.

I understand the difficulty in making split second
decisions. For all I know the opening I saw would
have been so wrong as to have the
horse finishing well off the pace instead of the
fine display of staying power we got to witness.

I wont even get on a horse anymore.
Still nice to learn what the thought process is
and I understand.

Steve

She was so clearly the best its hard for even observers to swallow. Im a jockey basher by nature, I cant control myself.

Looks like the stable is creeping up on the ever elusive maiden breaker. Even the people who arent involved want to see success, so hopefully she gets a clean run next time.

The winner didn't exactly get a clean trip either though. KNS runs wide and the winner winds up in her spot on the rail and gets through and we get beat. It was just bad luck with the 1 backing up sor early and considering it means we can still run back at this same level next out where she should be ready for a huge race, it could turn out to be a blessing.
