I used to think it was either the line or the recievers and or the play calling. Now for the first time I am starting to think that it is him. He also plays with no emotion, and that kills me. He just looks like a kid that has lost his way. Today he had this hopeless look on his face every time he made a mistake, like he knew that he himself was flushing the season away. He has good recievers and TE's (but he never looked for Shockey) but latley he only throws towards Plax who is far from 100%. Ever since the debacle against the Vikings he has been just flat out bad. Maybe they will give the kid the week off next week aganst the Pats and let him clear his head. The last thing they need going into the playoffs is for him to throw 4 more picks with 2 going back for td's. Plus the crowd at the Swamp is starting to sound like the on that has been going to the garden to watch the Knicks.

I was impressed with Eli's poise in that game against the Bears about a month ago. He was inept for 3 and a half quarters. But in the final 5 minutes of that game HE lead them to victory. It's gotta be enough for you Giants fans to rip your hair out when he can look so bad and then good, but no consistency.

If they do bench Eli, I'd think Lorenzon would get the look. He's parked the bench since Eli's been there. He know's the system, so give him a chance.

First thing is there is no way they are benching Eli, he is their QB. Even for some reason that they had a veteran like Jake Delhomme (who's been to the SB) on the bench, Eli is still the guy. They make so many mistakes, not just Eli. It seems like they leave a ton of points on the field every week. Even today, take away the 2 defensive TD's and it's a 24-21 game. He fumbled twice in FG territiory, it's just amazing. Dropped balls (today it was Steve Smith on a would be TD), penalties and so on. They say these are the type of games that good teams grind out and win. Like today, the Chicago game that you mentioned. But I think their record has to do more with the poor teams that they have played and beaten. Look at most of their wins,

They beat Philadelphia, on a day when A.J feeley was so bad that Eagle fans were praying that Donavan would come back soon.

Chicago:They rode Derrick Ward and Armani Toomer's catch bailed Eli out on a badly thrown ball to beat A bad bears team that had many chances to put the G-men away.

Detroit: They caught the Lions just as they started to go in the tank, The Lions were driving down the field twice in the 4th Quarter and only won because Kitna had 2 balls picked.

The 4 wins before that were against maybe the 4 worse teams in the league:Jets, 49ers, Falcons and Dolphins. The Dolphins game was a nailbiter too.

They beat the Eagles without Westbrook the first time and they had a mircle goal line stnd against the Skins early in the season.

Basically what I am saying is that they are the worst 10-5 team in the history of the NFL. It is not all Eli's fault, but he has been a very big contributor. Big mistakes that are costing them and keep teams in games.
4 out of the 5 losses came against teams with winning records and in those games the Giants were pasted! He was terrible and looked lost and rattled against the Vikes in a game were he should have been pulled down 17 going into the 4th. But that schmuck Coughlin (that will be another thread some other time) left him in to get his head battered a little more and throw a couple of more picks. The o-line was terrible too that day.Eli actually played well the first game against Dallas. I just wonder what is going to happen in 2 weeks. I want to believe that they can beat Tampa (I really do believe that). They have the talent, but can #10 pull it all together and lead them too victory? Or by judging by the play calling in the second half, when they decided that they weren't going to let him lose the game. Maybe they are just going to try to run, run and run some more.

i saw elis numbers last week. he's not that bad of a quarterback--he's just unlucky in that he's saddled with that last name, and everyone compares him to his big brother. not many QB's do compare to peyton.

giants have big problems all around--the qb is only as good as his line, and his targets. but eli has a huge bulls eye on his shirt...of course he's making dammed good money, so no doubt that eases the pain.

smart move on his part choosing the low pressure in new york.

on the other hand, he's missing the brilliant sports ownership of the spanos family.

i guess it was a hard choice.

I would not say he's unlucky to have that last name. THat last name is what got him being the top pick in the NFL draft and will likely get him more starting opportunities in the future when they won't be warranted.

He's nowhere near Peyton and he never will be. Its obvious now that the best QB of that class was Rothlesberger, not Eli.

that's true too. his name is both a blessing and a curse. but he should be compared to qb's in general, rather than to one very good one in particular.

I think in general, QB play really regressed this year. Yeah the two guys who were the best going into the season are still the two best. And Rothlesberger rebounded after an injury plagued disappointing 2006 season. The other guys to show improvement were Favre and Garrard. But Palmer took a step backward. Eli regressed, as did Rivers and Vince Young. Drew Brees finished well but started the season horribly. Grossman found himself on the bench less than a month into the season. When you see how few good QBs are really in the league, it becomes apparent how guys like Testaverde and Dilfer can stay in the league.
