She won her 13th in 1:10. The girl can run. Her pedigree is underwhelming. Amazing girl.

Have'nt seen the P.P.'s, but I think I only remember getting a notification for one workout prior to this race... Surely she has had more than one... Anyone know?

Whichever, I'm rooting for her to win . Go Pepper!!

What a tremendous accomplishment. Reminds me of my pee wee soccer team that went undefeated. We were the talk of the town...

well not really. Didn't stop us from thinking we were.

I know what you mean. Pepper's Pride reminds me of the 8th grade basketball team I played on back in 1990.
We finished the season 14-1, for a wining percentage of .933.
Then in 1996, the Chicago Bulls went 72-10 for a winning% of .878.

Despite the fact that our winning percentage was clearly better, people kept going on and on about how the '96 Bulls might be the best basketball team ever! What gives?

your 8th grade team probably would have ran circles around Jordan and those scrubs, just like Peppers Pride would do to Curlin.

i don't know why anyone would freak out about this-it's a record. not every record is held by the best a sport has ever seen.
i doubt anyone thinks najran is as good as dr fager just because he got the same time at a mile.

Obviously nobody should "freak out" about it, but I don't get how people could actually cheer for this horse to win at this point.
I don't really care very much about the topic at all, but I know that I would rather have horses like Cigar and especially Citation hold a record than somebody like this.

if she breaks the record, it takes nothing away from them-nor does it elevate her. there are plenty of lesser horses who hold these records.
i cheer anything that draws real interest. another horse just last week had a chance at tying-did you see the amount of people who went to that small track to see him run?

Are you talking about Got Country Grip, the paint?

If so, he was going for his 17th strait, (which would break the record) and was beaten by a short neck. Remington was packed.

I agree with you, Peppers Pride run is fun and in no way diminishes Cigar or Citations record or elevates hers.
Her owner and trainer just seem to be nice guys that are having fun and in no way compare her to Cigar or Citation and don't plan on taking her out of New Mexico. Seems to me they have no grandiose illusions and almost feel uncomfortable when she is compared to Cigar or Citation.
It was sad for all involved that the 2nd place horse Bossy Bush brokedown.

You'll have to explain that one to me.
How in the world does it not "elevate" her? If she wins 20 in a row before losing, any future horse that comes along with a big win streak will be said to be shooting for "Pepper's Pride's redord." It absolutely elevates her from a horse nobody would even think to remember to somebody that will be brought up every once in awhile until the record falls.
In my opinion.....that's unfortunate.

when she's done and gone, no one will care except those close to her. if a horse goes after the record later, so what. so it's peppers prides record, just like it's najran listed next to dr fager. does anyone think that makes najran as good as dr fager?
i don't see the big deal at all, and i don't understand why anyone makes it out to be one. like they say, records are made to be broken. so she'll be the barry bonds of horse racing.

See what I mean? This comparison is obviously a huge inflation of her talent. Barry Bonds was - even before the roids - a Hall of Fame type talent. She obviously is not, and yet you are comparing the two.
As for your Dr. Fager example, if she breaks the record, her name won't be listed "next to" Citation, Cigar, etc. She'll be the sole recordholder. And furthermore, yeah, I also wish Dr. Fager was still the sole record holder and didn't have to share anything with an inferior animal.
As a fan of the sport, I like it when deserving horses hold the major records rather than horses that took advantage of a souped up track, or connections that took advantage of ridiculously easy spots.
As I said earlier in this thread, I certainly can't blame her connections, but there is no way I would ever cheer for her to break the record either.
I hope she gets beat.
