Changing my pick to Zipping and that's that. Efficient won't do it here and as much as I wish, neither will Maybe Better.

Good luck everyone and come home safe ALL of you.

Nice call.

His slashing third on Saturday will prime him for this one.

At long odds, Tungsten Strike and Lazer Sharp -- if it's dead or slow -- will be ticket fillers. Purple Moon's Caulfield Cup run sets him well for tonight.

At shorter prices, I'm negative on Sirmione -- no way he is hitting the board -- and Princess Coup. I'm sire-centric, and could an Encosta De Lago get run 3200m?

A little more than fours hours out from an exciting, exciting night of racing!

Enjoy the Nation Stopper!
well good luck.

I might make a small wager or two just for fun. Mainly I just plan on taking it all in, and doing my part to spread the "Nation Stopping" to this country.

Why is it that Aussie horses can run 1 1/4 miles on Saturday and come back 2 days later and run 2 miles?

the best thing to happen to Efficient was for the jockey SW Arnold to hop off. Rodd takes him back farther and gets much more from the horse. wish i would have looked closer at this horse, instead of throwing him out.
and of course he was blinkers off which isn't noted in the pp's i have.

nice win, and solid races from Purple Moon and Mahler too.

They are all on drugs and their trainers are all crooked? Wait, that's America

Another good Cup! The crowd screaming was so loud I could barely hear the announcer on Xpressbet.

distant horses like to do the 2000 mtres on the sat to finish off there prep for the 3200 mtre on the tue, just finishes them off, gets them prepped just right .
Sometimes its great for a punt brew comes to mind as you win on the sat & then on the tue also some horses have to win on the sat just to get into the melbourne cup

A fantastic race, even though i had to get up at 4am to watch it (that didn't impress me too much!).

This is probably a biased view but i thought Mahler was the horse to take from the race. Always up with the fairly strong pace set by Tungsten Strike, and as far as i could see all the horses that raced very close to the pace (apart from Mahler) all finished out the back.

He is a proper stayer, and as Brockguy said the other day he just lacks that change of gear, which both Purple Moon and Efficient had.

Mahler is going to be some 'cup' horse in the UK next year. Ascot Gold Cup here we come!

Thought Purple Moon had the race in the back in the final furlong, but Efficient came from the clouds, a great run from him and a really well judged ride from the jock.

MMSC, why did you change your pick? That is the first rule of betting/handicapping....... never change your mind
