Whats 5 million when you got 50 in the bank?? its the principle of it, you take a team to 12 straight playoffs, countless world series' and they offer you a pay cut. i think both parties wanted to split.

As far as Joe at the track, my uncle Mel worked with Joe for 10 years and said that when they were on the road, they always went to the races, especially when Saratoga was going on. If the yankees were in Seattle during the Saratoga meet, you could always find Joe sitting and playing up in the 5th floor turf club.

"Principle" and the Yankees. Laughable. If Joe Torre had any principles then he would've declined the 7 mil a year to manage the highest paid team in baseball. Yeah he had a tough job.

FANatics. Unbelievable. People are starving and nobody gives a s.hit but heaven forbid Joe Torre gets disrespected with a contract offer.

Joe is a class guy and it's great he is a part of horse racing. It's just that from my lowly level it seems there was stuff going on behind the scenes and $5 million is to be respected not rejected, along with the job of Yankee manager.
