shame that the foot hindered slew o'gold in the inaugural bc, as well as the antics of gate dancer. he would have been a deserving winner.
and not for nothing is slew o'gold in the top 100 of the 20th century. but then, i'm not surprised some aren't impressed with him. there are other dammed good horses that don't get respect from a few.

look at that allowance, SOG beat a horse named cannon shell. was that chucks inspiration for his name?

I can't even imagine if there was internet back then what sort of an overrated nag that would never get 10 furlongs he would have been considered on here after the Remsen.

SOG was 0 for 2 at Tampa

The Wood was run in divisions...now they can barely get enough to qualify as a trifecta race.

In 83 Woodward and Marlboro Cup were 3 weeks apart, in 84 2 weeks

In 84 Marlboro he carried 129 lbs
