I don't remember Giacomo losing his racing career last year in the Preakness.

I was thinking the same thing miraja. Isn't Giacomo still racing or atleast in training?

Races Saturday at DelMar in the San Diego Handicap. Trainer says dont expect much from him at 8.5f except for him to be moving late. My guess is a solid 3rd, about 7-9 lengths behind the winner (whomever that will be)

Dr Richardson says the next few weeks are critical insofar as starting the slow process of regrowing his hoof. After that we wait 6 months for the process to complete. Wouldn't we all love to see him walk, even hobble, without his casts ?

I guess he likes his sling and is even having fun with it so that's great.

I just love that this horse seems to be so smart. How many horses would allow this stuff to happen to their body and still be accepting of it? Casts. Slings. You name it, he's endured it. Just seems like he knows. Everyday when I wake up I brace for the worst (a bad habit but thats the first thing I generally think when I click on this site) but he hasnt let anyone down so far. Hang in there Bobby!

little confusion, giacomo did win the derby and he also had two legs that underwent surgery. but i was referring to AA getting injured at Pimlico, and i do believe it is the dirt that is to blame there. i have an opinion just like everyone else.

Giacomo has never been quite the same hanger since that day at Pimlico. His hang in the Belmont was disappointing to say the least. Getting beat by Nolan's Cat is a disgrace at any level.

Your gonna have to explain this one, please. I'm quite interested in knowing how the dirt is to blame for Scrappy T ducking out and crashing into Afleet Alex.

My horse probably would have broke his other leg trying to get out of the stuff. He's a very high-strung eight year old. Yes, not many three year olds are like Barbaro. He is a charismatic champion through and through. This horse may just make it. I'm still hoping and praying for the best.

Yep, Barbaro's personality, temperment, and intelligence are helping keep in alive. What a brave horse. Keep fighting, champ!

Move the Preakness to Arlington? I will make a billion dollars before that happens.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was scratching my head.
I was thinking of AA on his turn for home. The track didn't cause Barbaro's injury. Most agree that it was an unfortunate step.
And, no...I don't want to "open a can of worms" with those that disagree.
We've discussed this a while ago.
