Not knowing much about the rules of racing in France I would say they probably made the correct call or no call. He did cross over and cause a few to steady behind him but didn't look bad enough to warrant a DQ

An upset to the mugs that thought Authorized was already home and hosed. Authorized is an overrated horse, who looks very good on soft turf, but as soon as it's a level playing field (like it was today) he couldn't handle it and finished almost last.

To try and put what happened in context:

In Britain and Ireland the result would have been UNCHANGED.

In America the result would have been CHANGED.

In France....... no one has a clue what will happen. In those instances, it is fifty fifty. I hate to say it, but if a French horse had been placed second, i'm pretty confident the result WOULD have been changed.

The european rules vary between countries. They are much more relaxed than the rules you have in America.

Although Dylan Thomas did cut across a couple of horses, the horses that suffered were beaten at the time and had no chance of winning. Most of the countries in Europe use the rule of "did the interference change the outcome of the race?" and if they can't be sure it did, they usually let the result stand.

I hope Dylan goes to Monmouth now........ but i doubt he will.
