At first base more than one call has been blown(and always will be) when the 2nd baseman is throwing from deep in the hole. Ball approaches at a different angle to the umps vantage point(not just straight in like when the throw is coming from short or 3rd) and its harder to make a closer call. You will notice they almost never blow a play at first when the throw is coming from short or 3rd.
