I'd say he probably needs to be about 90% or so to win. . . The 1, 5, 6, and 8 are pretty good horses and the 1 has earned some HUGE speed figures having things his own way at a lesser track. . .

Thanks for that.

The guy i know that works for Godolphin in the States can't see him being beaten. He says he is fit and ready.

I'm just not a big fan of the horse, so i'm trying to find ways of him getting beaten.

Default These horses that never run

Are always overrated. He did nothing and even if he did, big deal! I think a horse should have to run a minimum of 5 or 6 races to even be considered horse of the year or divisional leader, they have minimums in baseball for the batting title and era title.

I've been very wrong about many more races in my life than I've been right. Play the game long enough and just about everyone ends up at the same percentage.

Default This is juicy

Street Sense will now be favored and whichever of the the other 4 contenders you like take the 5-1 or higher and go to the window.

Then sometimes (Curlin), I am right. Evens out.

Street Sense won't be favored over Curlin. Curlin was nearly the favorite for this race over the leading HOY candidate in Lawyer Ron and that was coming off of a loss. He's now beaten SS and Lawyer Ron. Curlin has shot to the lead in the race for HOY in my opinion.

Default nice stretch run

Lawyer Ron just never seemed to rate today, those two monster wins at Saratoga have to be discounted a little, because today the time was 2:02, Curlin ran huge, Maybe AGS and Hard Spun are really this good and Street Sense also. I love it 5 legitimate contenders means juicy odds.

Another thing this showed was just how bad the handicap division is. Lawyer Ron dominated the rest of the older horses yet again.

That was not the kind of prep I like to see for the BC Classic though. It was a tough race. At the finish, I was immediately thinking that this is why the JCGC has such a dismal record as a Classic prep. It's a prestigious race in it's own right and it usually takes a big effort to win it, one which is hard to reproduce in the Classic. I rate the JCGC as a Classic prep the same way that I do the Vosburgh as a Sprint prep, the Arc as a Turf prep and the QE II as a Mile prep. But damn, I love Curlin and he's been my selection for the Classic for a while so it's going to be hard to get off of him now.

Default not sure it was that hard

I'm not sure who is going to win the classic. But watch the replay, Curlin was ridden very confidently all the way to the lane and not really asked until they came around the turn. Very similar to the Haskell when he was even with AGS just after the turn and then just flattened out because of the layoff, this time he showed his usual punch. I want all 5 horses to get there and have 30 solid days of debates. Plus there are some Tiago likers out there. And he runs his race every time as well. All of the 6 top contenders should come up to the race in shape and ready to fire.

I think that this race answered a couple of questions about Lawyer Ron.

1-A lot of people wondered about his ability to handle 10f. I thought he handled it fine.

2-A lot of people wondered if he was just thrived at Saratoga. I thought he ran great over the Belmont track.

If Curlin is not in this race today, Lawyer Ron would have run off to yet another dominating victory over the same trash he beat upstate and everyone would be saying that he answered both questions emphatically.

Where's everybody that wrote off Curlin after his Haskell third? This is a big-time colt, who may not have the cuddliest of connections, but runs his ass off, has little distance limitation, is as versatile as any Classic contender and just beat the only BCC horse capable of knocking off the three-year-olds.
