The Bonecrusher Stakes is formerly the Northern Guineas Trial, the name was changed about 4 years ago. Not entirely sure about the Soliloquy Stakes, but I think it has always been raced under that name (it's not a very old race, it has only been run since the early 1990s).
We don't really change our race names very often overall though, which I think is a good thing. However, I'm not happy that we don't have any race named after undeniably New Zealand's all-time greatest mare,
Sunline. She really deserves one.
