If the Red Sox and MLB can hammer out the logistics of Fenway Park hosting the All-Star game. Then there is no reason The Breeders Cup comm. and NYRA can't figure out the logistics of Saratoga hosting the BC.
I'm not saying put it in the rotation but at least once, they can do it. There is no other track that deserves hosting more than Saratoga.

I'd love to see the Breeders Cup in Saratoga. The logistics, the weather, and the lack of closed spaces are exactly the reasons why it doesn't happen.
Could many people brave a 50 degree day? Sure, but even 50 and sunny isn't always the case. That time of the year it could swing either way at least 20 degrees. Imagine 50,000 fans braving a 35-40 degree day? It's just too much of a risk to run it there. BOSWD, you know me, you, and many others could hack sitting out in the picnic area on a cool afternoon, but the majority of the people aren't going to want to do that. In regards to the weather this summer, I went to the track six times and five of those times it was at least 90 or better. Opening day and especially Whitney Day were quite warm and muggy. Drank a lot of beer. Good times. |

What became more apparent in the past year was the affection that the local community in the Capital Region has for NYRA. That would be eroded if Breeders' Cup comes to town. Breeders' Cup takes over the show completely. $50 General Admission. Probably either not allowed to bring anything in or vastly limited. Concession prices ramped up 50-100%. The local community will feel completely frozen out and will blame NYRA. |
