Well, here is some interesting fallout from Dee Tee Stables ....
When Sumwonlovesyou raced at Arlington (I grew up there), about 8 of my local relatives come out to watch her. None of them had ever been to the track before, nor watched racing on TV. They all were wonderfully impressed by how beautiful and clean Arlington was, how excited all the owners were, and how exciting it was to "know" a real horse that was racing that day. We all stood in line, with a very nice and helpful mutual teller, as I lead them one by one through how to place a $2, "across the board" bet on Sumwon. They couldn't believe how much FUN the DT owners were having that day. My 70-something aunt just telephoned. I had sent her the DT Prospectus for DT-2. Well, she and her four tennis-playing buddies at the local club WANT IN on DT 2 for one share. Two of them want to upgrade their computers to learn how to "search the net" and read the DeeTee Stables blog, and learn more about horse racing. You go, girls! I told them, yes, absolutely, I hope they follow through with it, and go for it. Five new horse racing fans created by Dee Tee Stables ...

Well, if Steve gets a check from "The Wheaton Tennis Terribles", hopefully he'll just cash it and send them a DT silks pin!

I guess horse ownership isn't for everyone. But I'm glad your relatives had a good tme and want to get in on the next horse. Hopefully a All-Weather type.

I'd venture to say that a share in a Dee Tee runner provides a lot more fun than either of those two pastimes... I'd also guess that the people you're suggesting buy-in think there is on-going expense involved in becoming a partner.

The $500 for the share was the cheap part. It was driving to the track and betting her to win doh

Wood Winner's win was equal parts a nice horse feeling great and sitting on a big effort and terrific race riding by Alan Garcia who kept Coa pinned in behind horses. "Woody" also wasn't letting anybody by him Friday and has a bite mark on his ass from Tactical Gold for his efforts.
Editorial Point: I've had horses with Gary for 8 years now and while we've had some lean (pardon the pun) times it has ALWAYS been fun and entertaining. Gary truly cares for his horses and does the best he can with the stock he has. (Case in point, we claimed Wood Winner for $14K from Contessa and I've won 5 races and about $90K) I think it's a great move getting him involved. |
