Wow
Fortunate to have caught Mylilmoneymaker in the CRC first at $17.80 and a nibble of the $85 DD. Some decent STEAM was going on with Sobol's off-the layoff filly who was in cheap against a scraggly crew. After seeing the pace fall apart in the third it was obvious this was could be one of those "Calder, 2nd day after the deluge days," where all hell breaks loose and they come from everywhere. Five races and a few losing plays later, I bet Morner like I loved her and she didn't run a step, confirming the know bias I somehow chose to ignore (see race 5... Post Invader... last-to-first and wins by 5). Had to leave after the 7th, but everyone I knew was playing against Fog. Quarter-crack, tough race, bias, not the same as last year, etc.... At the same time, EVERYONE was still singling Dubai. I went a bit wider and pricier than my original plan on my p-5, but left out Gin Rummy Champ (as well as runner up Sgt. Bert) in the 8th so my 5 ticket busted early. Small loss for the day. Watch for Mylilmoneymaker to run back as well as World War, a Salinas 2 year old who got bumped at the start while breaking from the rail, made all the pace and held on for a decent 4th (beaten 2 lengths) at 10-1.

It could have been much worse.
