Turtle Bowl put in a brave effort but he was fighting a losing battle and was collared close home by Holocene for second spot. French Derby winner Lawman was most disappointing, trailing in last of the six runners. Paul Harley, racing manager to owner Baron Georg von Ullmann, said: "The Arc has always been the plan and it is very much the plan now. "This horse is extremely versatile and he is an exceptional horse. We planned for this race and he has delivered." Pasquier added: "He was really impressive and he won easily. Once he won at Royal Ascot, I realised the Arc was a very much a possibility." VC Bet have cut Manduro to 4-1 second favourite from 6-1 for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, while William Hill are slightly longer at 5-1. Coral also clipped him into 5-1 from 7s while Ladbrokes go 6-1. "Andre Fabre believes this horse is capable of winning big prizes over three distances on two surfaces, and it's mission accomplished as far as leg one is concerned," said Coral's David Stevens. Played cricket all day today, so only saw the closing stages in a replay. Wow, he was impressive, even more impressive than i thought he'd be.
Shame Lawman didn't run up his form because it might have made it a much better finish rather than see Manduro cruise home. He has improved so much on last year. Monsun's tend to improve with age and this boy looks like he is doing it also. He was probably short of top class last year, a mixture of that and unlucky, but he is the real deal now. I'm still not sure how well 12 furlongs will suit him against proven stayers over that distance, but i'd love to see him win the Arc

Didn't Fabre say he liked giving him plenty of time between his races? I may be thinking about something else, but i thought i read that somewhere. If that's the case he probably won't go to Monmouth, there are only 20 days between the Arc and the Breeder's Cup this year.
