but are you telling me you can't go to the OTB in NY and play 10cent supers on the CA tracks? if thats true I guess it sucks to be in NY.

I have a love/hate relationship with the dime super. It's great when you're at home and play it, but it's a nightmare when you're at the track and want to make a serious wager and there are 5 assholes in front of you who all are playing dime supers and they've never placed a wager before.

i can't imagine trying to play it at the track, especially on a busy day. I play it almost exclusively at home...

at Arlington you come upon these old timers punching out 10cent supers for like 10minutes! and they're only spending like $5 if that. they do a lot of double checking and starting over.

of course it doesn't help that many of the self serve machines don't work very well, you have to strike the number on the corner or else it gives you a different number. it can be real maddening.

Yeah the new selfbet machines at Churchill were nice at first until the mouthbreathers figured out how to use them. Now you'll have some douchebag actually handicapping the race while making his wager. It's ridiculous.

my statement was only with regard to the availability of the 10cent super, don't know what the other issues are, but taxes are ugly in many places, not only NY.

I love the idea of the dime supers, but you guys are right. All it is going to do is gum up the works. The lines at the tracks and otb's will be longer and it will be tougher to get in on the phones. Plus the computers are always slow on big days like that, so they will probably be affected too.

yeah but for the breeders cup, you should be able to plan your wagers in advance to some extent and make the wagers earlier in the day.

Exactly!
Every track should offer them, you have to deal with the "old" bettors whether there's 10 cent supers or not, I can

I don't know about that. It seems that alot of people like to see what the horses look like in the paddock and on the track before the race before making thier bets. People also want to see the board. But it is very hard to put bets in that early on a race day that big. For instance, last years Breeders Cup I was at Freehold raceway for most of the day betting the races. I put my bets in for the classic early thinking it would be very chalky and went home to watch it. Now I am mostly a exoctics guy, mainly exactas and triples. I only bet a horse to win if it is about 6-1 / 7-1 or higher. I loved Invasor, and I never imagined that he would go off and pay $15 dollars. But unfortunatley I was at home and did not have a win bet on him. Back to the point, with so many $2 dollar bettors, this dime super is such a value bet especially when the payoff on big days like that a huge that the lines at the tracks and otb's are going to be longer and slower than ever and people who try to wait to the last minute to bet are going to be shut out by a guy boxing 6 horses in his dime super. Then again I could be wrong in thinking that all of America plays the BC like they play the Derby. Now that would be real chaos!
