That's a good point. I'm not sure they're going to make another attempt for it, but it is a great facility.

I think there's one benefit to racing fans from Polytrack: less talk about bounces. Trainers who believe horses shouldn't run races less than 50 days apart are going to have a very difficult time. Fitness and stamina now supercede speed and to an extent, ability. If you haven't run within 25 days and hadn't had at least 1 workout since (no 3f crap, either), you have almost no chance on the carpet.

Well some of my favs are on the bench right now , so I have to get new favs lol . In our barn I usually know alot more of the broodmares babies ( been around too long ) as alot of the babies I have ridden their mothers and their daughters or sons in the past . I like alot of the Dixie Unions , I used to gallop him and he was always a class act , I like the War Chants , very sensible horses that have alot of charater and real intelligent looks about them.
Most of the Grand Slams I have been around I like , they are usually hearty horses with the ability to go short and long on the grass or the dirt.
Its hard for me to pick a favorite sire line because we get so many well bred horses thru the barn , but as you can see I can tell you the one's I dont like lol.
We do have a Mineshaft baby that I like , he has in incredible way of moving but is just a little bit immature right now but down the road I think he is going to be something .
I hate to tout horses because sometimes they dont live up to my expectations so Ill just leave it at that , we do still have some 2 yr olds for Wayne Hughes that I havent seen yet and some more for Diamond A to come in so hopefully we can keep the winning trend going with our babies.

He just came back in , he had a sore shin so he got turned out for a while , he hasnt worked yet so he most likely will be ready for Oak Tree .

I know huh , the man has like 5 billion dollars and that is a fact , he is in his 70's and he wants a Derby winner before he dies , so look out in the next few years , he's goint to be all out trying to get that horse.

It will be interesting to see who really pans out next year between the Empire Makers, Vindications and Mineshafts, all of which I think Wayne picked up one or two!

This yearling sale in July at Keeneland has some Olmodavor and Action This Day babies in it. Mr Hughes' horse manager Seth has said that the Action This Day babies are good looking , he said he was suprised at the strong looking hips they had on them coming from the Kris S line .
Olmodavor was an A.P Indy horse we had , he came from France and never ran as a 2 or 3 yr old. He was beautiful horse with such and intelligant eye , he ran second once to Mineshaft and second to Medaglia d' Oro I think he won a graded race at some point , not a real fancy porfolio , but I think he could be worth a taking a chance on .

I remember Cornish Snow winning a stake race at age 8...he was also 2nd in the Tom Fool at age 7 to Trippi.

They bred Storm Cat to the spectacularly talented Mariah's Storm, who ran a (jointly held record for a mare) 120 Beyer Speed figure, a few years after suffering a horrifc broken leg in a KEE 2yo stake race.

The first result of that seemingly all-time mating of fragility produced a world class talent nicknamed "The Iron horse."

If a Storm Cat offspring is really any good, he or she is probably not going to be around racing as a 5-year-old because of economic reasons.

I'm not going to try and pretend that Storm Cat has done anything positive for the overall soundness and toughness of the breed---but, I can't possibly say that he is the reason horses aren't as sound and tough as they once were.

It's my gut feeling that the overuse of medications (illegal and more often legal) have had the biggest impact on why horses aren't nearly as sound as they should be.

Thanks, I appreciate your opinion...hopefully we see him get the test in a few weeks. If he goes to the Haskell, Cable Boy looks good and the race should draw either SS or Curlin. The remainder of the year for the three year olds should be interesting.

yea, one won the derby and almost the preakness, the other won the woody steavens and narrowly lost the carry back.....race did not tell us a thing about the best of the generation.

Yeah, pretty much how I saw it. We didn't really really learn anything more than if they gave him an aggressive work.

Teuf has looked much more like a sprinter in the final analysis. That he was able to carry his speed to nearly win a 1 1/8 G1 seems somewhat tragic to me. And Dominican just ran 3rd in a hardly world-beating stake yesterday...
