The race I was obviously most disgusted with was the Belmont. Ever since that race the sight of Bobby Frankel & Jerry Bailey makes me sick. I never understood why when Smarty Jones went for the Triple Crown Edgar Prado & Mary Lou Whitney were apologizing for winning the race. When Empire Maker beat Funny Cide Frankel & Bailey were acting like a-holes. I thought they showed very little class that day. I hope to see Funny Cide around Saratoga again soon. He did a lot of good things for this sport.
Frankel and Bailey were being completely classless the day they won that Belmont. It was all their preconceived arrogance that they should have won the Kentucky Derby. Fact was Empire Maker was right there off FC and Peace Rules with every chance to go by and he didn't. I know they have said EM had a stone bruise or something similar, but no excuses, he had his chance.

Bailey disgraced himself further the next year by running Smarty Jones up the track and was happy to admit it. Couldn't be happier to see him off the track.

"I loved his win in the Preakness, especially after the accusations in the Derby...he was a good horse who always gave his best, glad to see him retire sound and go out a winner...what stories he'll be able to tell Tagg's future runners on their way to the track!"

Agree with this 100%!!! They have treated this horse with the respect and love that a champion deserves. If he ends up being a showhorse,,,,*WOW* I can't even imagine the thrill some *LUCKY* one is going to get being able to show him!!

Best of luck to Funny and Sackatoga and Barclay Tagg.

The race in Canada was my favorite moment of his career. I thought he ran a hell of a race that day.

When I saw Funny Cide come back to get Empire Maker in the Wood, I knew Funny Cide was my horse in the Ky Derby. I had like $20 on his nose and I tossed Empire Faker from the exotics

oops.

Well, Funny Cide went on to run hyear after year while the cripple EM went on to

umm

filly fun

but who wants to watch that

I guess the Preakness was the best though with the record or close to records lengths won by. Santos was quick to show there was nothing in his hands... Those chumps in Florida should be ashamed

The Wood Memorial, because it was the first time I realized what a gutsy animal he was. Until that point I was a skeptic that he was truly top level, but I was right on the wire that day and FC came back at him after being passed midstretch. Great race.
