You might be surprised to find that the majority of the people of that faith are not, anymore than all Christians are Crusaders.

So...your solution to this debacle besides "never ending war"?
DTS: Must you always "beg the question"? You know I'm doing nothing of the sort! The Jihadists aren't going to stop planning and attacking anytime soon! The attacks in London,Scotland and the aborted attacks in US are proof that the terrorist will not be minimised unless America is able and ready to deal with them militarily.

timm,
Honestly, I didn't "beg the question", I asked one.
The attacks in London and Scotland were thwarted by luck, and investigated by security agencies (police intelligence), not military.
So, as regards the USA, and given the fact that one fourth of the leadership positions at Homeland Security remain unfilled, ummm.., ugh,
Sorry, Timm. Good intelligence provides more security than all the brave military service, (and I commend their efforts).
Remember, wars are fought with countries. "Terrorists" know no boundaries.
This isn't the mission of the military, but rather, the covert (intelligence) departments.

Terrorists know no boundaries, but this country still isn't ready for what is coming as far as attacks! They're too inconvenienced to pay attention to things that might interrupt their daily lives. And the Dems will fund for more intelligence...I don't think so!

Wow!
We agree!...at least on most of what you said.
I really don't know that the Dems won't fund more intelligence, so I'm not going to assume (cause whenever I do, it makes an ass of you and me).
As far as people paying attention, well, I'm thinkin' that many do. The rest might be just struggling to keep their heads above water (survive).
Timm, do you remember what Regan said? The quote about, "is your life better now than it was four years ago"?
So, back to an honest question:
How does the US find a way to disengage from Iraq?

btw...many prominent Repub Senators are aasking that question.

DTS: The Dems want to appease our enemies and raise our standing in the world! Frankly, when America ceases its' duplicity and stops currying favor from "mice that roar" we'll be much better off. you are correct about treading water...most live week to week or worse! My life isn't better now,for reasons I can't blame on the Administration(well..maybe Arnold for gutting WC) Judging by the results in Viet Nam...We must not bail on Iraq! I grieve daily about our soldiers dying but they are our response to the terrorists in ME and other places. That it can't be cleanly accomplished doesn't discount its' merits!

Well timm, I wouldn't go so far as to state that the dems want to appease our enemies. Seems to me that both parties have been lobbied very hard by Israel to fight their proxy war so we can keep them safe from their enemies.
It's not widely reported as to what this factors into the current situation. It pains me that their security is being bought with American blood.
Both parties have been whores.
Unfortunately, diplomacy is the only way out of this, and the ones in power aren't moving in that direction. Without dialogue, nothing will be accomplished. It will be Israel calling the shots from behind the screen, US soldiers (3601 so far) coming home in boxes, and people so preoccupied with living day-to-day that no notice is taken of the real story, nor the real tragedy.
This mess will end some day, though I agree that it won't be "cleanly accomplished".

You sure do have a thing about Israel! Israel is a strategic ally in the Middle East...a Democracy as are we. Why should we be diplomatic with countries who have sworn our destruction? Most of our actions have been to stabilize the region. Remember, the US gave a fortune to PLO as well as to Israel. Israel calling the shots in the US is another of your conspiracy theories. What are we to make of the gadflys who travel to Syria and Iraq and Iran, trumpeting a new idea for peace....for people who don't want it! I would say that is appeasement,or worse.
