My favorite race that I saw in person was the 1987 Haskell Invitational when Bet Twice beat Alysheba and Lost Code. It was the race that put the Haskell on the map.
Favorite race I saw on TV was the 1988 Breeders Cup Distaff watching Personal Ensign retire undefeated after she looked beat at the 1/16th pole. I still can't believe that she got there first. |

Wow, some really great races and calls here. I sometimes think the race can make the call. Sure, the opposite can happen, but when you are talking about professionals -- like them or not -- that passion for a truly incredible, amazing race just comes through.
The Test -- Carson Hollow and You! My friend owned Carson Hollow and that race was an absolute classic. It was one of the most exciting races I have ever seen -- and having a friend who had a horse in the race, and a jockey who I know well, and everything going on in and around the race just added to electricity. Personal Ensign winning the BC! Undefeated, last start of her career and running with screws in her hock -- WOW!!! You just can't help but think she is never going to get there. Thanks for all the great posts. Eric |
