Default "Mark and Ellen Craig"

Married in real life, William Daniels and Bonnie Bartlett's portrayals of Dr. and Mrs. Mark (Ellen) Craig on 'St. Elsewhere' were achingly poignant, funny and 'real'...

The agony involved upon the scripted death of their son Stephen, and effect on their marriage on the show, was as gripping as anything I've ever seen on TV. Both won Emmy's for their work on what I believe, along with "Homicide", was the best show ever on TV.

Good pick...I only saw the show a few times but enjoyed it...Homicide is in my top 20, another show ahead of it's time.

St. Elsewhere was indeed a TV treasure, I must have known but now had forgotten that the Craig's were real life partners.

Another one from that time period that I thought was terrific was Hill Street Blues. I see that Mermaid has nominated Daniel J Travanti and Veronica Hamel for favorite couple, and deservedly so.
