Default Good news Scuds

The Dodgers made what looked like a questionable pick at the time by taking Mattingly in the supplemental part of last year’s first round, but after an impressive showing in the Gulf Coast League last summer, as decisions go, it seemed sound. The spitting image of his father Don (plus three inches and 20 pounds), Mattingly got off to a horrible start in his pro debut, sitting at just .192/.241/.273 in mid-May. Drafted as a shortstop, but given no shot by scouts to stay there, the organization felt that Mattingly’s defensive struggles--including an incredibly awful .773 fielding percentage--were affecting him at the plate. They moved him over to second base, and not only has Mattingly made just four errors since moving to the other side of the bag, but he’s hit .349/.379/.578 since the move, now sitting at a respectable .265/.300/.400 and rising. Even at second base he’s fringy with the glove, and most see him as a left fielder in the end, but the bat is back.

Chuck much as I love you dearly as trainer.....Their is only one Don Mattingly!!!

Either with that sweet swing or bad ass glove the man was probably the most complete player I saw as a kid. His son may hit some by osmosis but his father could probably go 3-5 against some of the inferior arms that pass for major league pitching these days.....and this is a life long, long suffering Red Sox fan talking.

We might have to see if we can get some pitching in return for this kid.Schmidt,Tomko, and Henricksen are various forms of waste matter. Penny,Lowe, and pray.Kuo,Wolf, and Billingsley(all together) may equal one decent pitcher.Got about 3 decent starters.Even the Halos are pitching Colon tonite. So,they have 4 good starters. I can't believe this Schmidt. What a piece of work this guy is.Wasn't this the guy that went head n' head last year in a pitcher's duel at Dodger Stadium(he and Maddux.) Always pitched great at Dodger Stadium. What a disaster.Damn cancer in Dodger Fans' bones.Always has been.Nothing has changed.Burning us one way or the other.Really is the Antichrist( for us.)
