almost....it was 2 days after her bail out.

Either way Deb, she is heading down the wrong track. Too bad it is too late for her to play for Stanford. I do hope she enrolls in school and stays there.

yeah, she is...it's a shame when parents put their kids thru more than they should, at a young age, or try to live thru their children. of course you can't say it's a shame that she can't have a normal life, since this IS her life, and thus is normal to her...too bad.
they needed to stick to whatever rules they had regarding age of participants and such. but the $$ were showing up in a LOT of eyes, not just the parents'.

sad, but true. but there are a lot of parents like that--they wanted to be a baseball/football player, etc, so they have the kids do it, since they couldn't. then the kids who get stressed out while mommy and daddy play who is the best parent, and run the kids ragged all night, every night, to practice, dance, ballet, etc, etc....

i was left pretty much to my own devices growing up--we found plenty to do--without our parents 'help', we turned out just fine. a bit scarred, with great stories tho! when did it become mandatory that parents completely structure every moment of their kids lives??? let kids be kids, let them be golf pros or whatever when they grow up, and choose on their own.

I am truly blessed. I started playing golf in high school. I played for my high school team, played for a Div. III college and have been playing professionally since 1995. So I can't venture to guess how many tournaments I have played in the last 17 years or so....but I do know this.

My parents have seen me play golf ONCE....and even then it was only for 9 holes of a tournament....and I love them for that. They let golf be "my thing"

mine didn't help me either! i can count on one finger the amount of times my mother came to pick me up at school. we had a late bus that would run you close to your house if you stayed after--about a two mile walk from the stop to the house, suited me just fine.

having mom or dad around was a bad thing, if they were interested in what i was doing, it was probably because i was in trouble!

be home by dinner, be home by dark. pretty much the rules. if it was a nice day, we were out of the house.
