so with all the banter, sun king opens at 5/2?
Isnt Latent Heat going to be the value in this race?

Personally I've never been a Latent Heat fan, as I thought he was not the best horse in the San Carlos and only won because of a terrible ride on Proud Tower Too. The track that day was also very speed favoring and the rail was outstanding. He ran a pretty brave race in the Carter, dueling through extremely fast fractions before tiring late. He's a threat with a nice trip, but I don't know if he can hold the late runners off in the stretch here. I just can't back him with confidence at a mile.
I think Corinthian is going to get some bad money in here off of the no chance trip in the Excelsior. His two wins at Gulfstream both earned decent figures, but I was extremely un-impressed by the Gulfstream Park Handicap. The workout last Monday was scorching so he's probably fit, but I'd need 12 or 15-1 to take a chance. Silent Name may be another who takes a bunch of money off the impressive Polytrack win, but the Commonwealth field was a berry patch compared to this field. For all the depth in the race I think it could end up being a ho-hum chalky finish with Lawyer Ron, Sun King, and Silver Wagon slugging it out. Good luck to all playing. NT |

this race didn't turn out all that great.
I was going to look at what kind of odds Chatain got, He was forced to rate in that Ben Ali (which was either an idiotic entry or a brilliant prep or BOTH ).. hes out Dutrow has the fastest horse in his barn and the best horse in his barn. The speedball can run 2nd or 3rd as long as he presses the pace. I don't really like to call Silver Wagon a grade 1 animal but he has a very good opportunity in this one. Corinthian is a pretty good animal but his real strength is 9 or 10f races getting first jump on his competition, which he is able to carry for a long drive. Its a running style, speed and stamina combo that is going to take a great ride(where does he start that long drive, and will he be in decent position early?) that I just don't expect to happen or be at full force at a mile. Silent Name has the Danehill curse, this guy should be running in 6.5 downhill sprints at Santa Anita, not miles at Belmont. Out of the trifecta. Half Ours is good but not great. Latent Heat has a good chance of over-heating burning out the first 7 furlongs. Nice animal, running style will be hard to overcome. Lawer Ron is a grade 2-3 animal who finally has been rating and building form, now he gets shortened up over his head Sun King is a pretty good animal and Zito has good vibes. Should not be winning the Met Mile, but has a tiny chance to win and should run a decent race. Political Force is one to watch on tape, my impression is that he isn't this fast and in way over his head , but his last race was faster and looked solid on form. It's possible he gets in the tri. |

yes, he is 3 for 3. i like him, but that stat is distorted as his three 1 mile races are: 1.) Evangeline Downs - two turns?? 2 y.o. season 2.) Oaklawn Park - two turns?? beat the mighty steppenwolfer 3.) Gulfstream - one turn mile A/OC ..... ran last quarter in 24.3/5, with a 22 and change 2nd quarter im using him sun king and half ours |

Lawyer Ron is really rounding into nice horse as 3YO. Pletcher is succeeding in training LR to use, not abuse, his tactical speed. I have seen LR run twice at LaD -- winning 2006 Risen Star and placing in 2006 Super Derby. He is very athletic, well-built horse. His breeding suggests that mile is possibly his best distance. His sire, Langfuhr, won this race as 5YO.
Lawyer Ron is my choice to win Met Mile tomorrow. |

He'll have to run fast early, middle, and late. I think Lawyer Ron will crack under pressure. I have it down to Sun King, and maybe Silent Name or Silver Wagon closing past the hot pace. |

Good to see ya around. I haven't seen ya in a while. Hope all is good. I'll keep you in mind for a horse. My yearling filly, Ciel Bonne, is looking very good. She's by Stanislavsky, a NY sire by Dehere. She'll do something, for sure. Darlin' by Day (the 2yo filly that's 3X3 to Alydar) is now in training in MD. Watch for her. He little brother, Daring Day, is still on the farm. As far as names go, I like the Zipper one. How about "It's in the Pants". Oh, Jim J's Jack's Express scratched out yesterday. Watch for this one next out. |
