Trying Brian ran a hanging 4th (bet down to 3-1), losing by 3 or 4 lengths. Lanerie kept him between 4 and 6 wide the entire race, loomed boldy at the top of the stretch, but couldn't pass the winner from Ronny Werner (bet from 10-1 ML to 6-1), who went to the lead, stayed off the rail, looked like he was going to be passed on 3 different occasions, "re-broke" each time and won handily.
