 * * * Why Be rounds off Hong Kong preparation in style 30 Nov 2007 Jo Adams Singapore’s champion sprinter Why Be has rounded off his preparation for Hong Kong with an eye-catching right-handed gallop at Kranji on Friday morning. Ridden by Din Azis, Why Be headed out with stable mate Breckenridge and the two worked together on the turf track. Breckenridge was chosen as he has previous experience on right handed tracks after racing in New Zealand, but despite his familiarity with the reverse way of going, Why Be outshone him by railing like the proverbial greyhound as he covered the turf at three quarter pace. Why Be has done all his racing on the Kranji left handed track but seems to have mastered the art of leading with the right leg with assurance. The Laurie Laxon trained five-year-old will leave Singapore on Sunday night and is expected into Hong Kong early Monday morning. He will line up against arguably the world’s best sprinters on Sunday December 9, in the HK$12 million Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Sprint (1200m).
