I think you made a mistake in determining the tenor of his post. I've seen his posts for years on the internet and he's hardly someone who takes cheap shots. Since I also know you are more than a reasonable person I just think this is one of those " internet misunderstandings. " |

![]() The gate to wire finish he was speaking of was a claimer, which most of the races have been, and the half was in a 48 and the finishing time was a 1:47 and change. Crawling home and the top three ran 1-2-3 practically the whole race. Now if they couldn't close at those snail fractions how in the hell is CQ going to close from +10 out and win?
He's a toss outside of bottom exotic savers. That's my opinion. If it's a "bad" opinion well that's fine. I don't need someone telling me it is and then offering nothing but half a stand's in retort. Last edited by Coach Pants : 05-14-2007 at 01:52 PM. |

![]() This is a pleasant enough exchange of info from a variety of well-informed parties... No one is being intentionally condescending or vitriolic... So.. let's quell the rhetoric..

I'll take the hard data over the "I was there in April" or "yeah, but one race was a claimer" and whatever else is used to back up an argument. As for this post: Quote:

![]() Does anyone think that the Belmont might have been a better spot to bring back CQ?
Why rush for this spot, when you can train up and make a good run in the Belmont. |

And the same owners (tabor) are sending rags to riches, so I'm not sure it makes much sense to place him there even if he does fit that track/race better. I'm not saying CQ is a lock in the preakness, I just think he adds another interesting element to what was shaping up to be a fairly weak and predictably chalky race. Especially with Chelokee passing on it. |

Being out of Circle of Life, CQ's best served as a late runner in one-turn races at a mile or elongated sprint distances. |

I would agree with the Met Mile being a better spot, and the one-turn mile thought. I just don't like him in this Preakness spot. |

![]() The reason I assumed he would run in the Preakness is Coolmore. At this point, winning the Preakness or Met Mile ( where IMO he should be running ) may be about the only reasonable spots left to increase his breeding value, as he obviously has absolutely no chance in the Belmont.
While Todd has who may be the Met favorite in Lawyer Ron, good luck to him, I am sure if Tabor/Coolmore wanted to run Circular Quay there he would be running....Lawyer Ron or not. |

![]() It is probably that avatar. The guy is named after a ballet dancer's costume and all.
Seriously, I think how the track played yesterday and all last week is a little more relevant than how it played a month ago. Your post, in my opinion, was misleading at best. We can agree to disagree. I do it with most horse players every single day at the windows at least 40 times a day. |
