an article in todays democrat gazette about the charges....some snippets:
he's charged with a class c felony, could face 3-10 years in prison and /or 15k fine. expected to turn himself in in the next few days. he tested positive for opiates, benzodiazepines, a tranquilizer used to treat anxiety, and painkillers hydrocodone and oxycodone. he claims he feel asleep at the wheel. two witnesses said they saw him driving erratically, and at a high rate of speed. the victims nephew filed a wrongful death suit last month. norman is also serving a six month suspension, and is barred from all tracks til sept. 28. this was due to two of his horses hafing excessive levels of total carbon dioxide during the jean lafitte stakes last nov. 3.
