Pletcher said that Scat Daddy will be wearing traditional Queen's Plates on the front and quarter-inch bends on the back on Saturday; that he's trained in bar shoes since last summer but has raced wearing traditional shoes.

Pletcher said that his blacksmith recommended using bar shoes for training purposes because the horse has prominent bars in his feet. The "bars" of the foot are made of very hard horn material. The wall, bars and frog are the weight-bearing structures of the foot.
Bar shoes are only used to hold a bad hoof together. I'm not telling you not to be him, But based on % of horses that use bar shoes and winning I will bet else where.
