Only living 5 minutes from the actual Yorktown Battlefield where Washington defeated Cornwallis, I second that notion. My day tomorrow will be spent at the Battlefield.

I have been there. Beautiful. There is a huge amount of history up in Saratoga too. Saratoga is not only great racing, but the battle there was arguably the most important battle ever fought in the history of the country. I would argue Trenton was more important, but most feel Saratoga was the turning point of the war. George Washington was quite the gambler and loved horse racing too.

we live a stones throw away from the battlefield where the most monumental battle in all of history took place. The Battle of Saratoga was the turning point of the Revolutionary War and without it there might not be a United States of America, we could very well all be doing tea and crumpets today and bowing down to "royalty". The very thought of it horrifies me. I've been to the battlefield and they actually provide you with details of how teh battle was fought. It was an incredibly stupid and arrogant battle plan by the British that allowed the ragtags to kick their asses and convince others that we could win the war. Thank God for that.

Being a little bit of a history buff, I remember quite well about Saratoga. You would love Yorktown Battlefield.

Her Mom loves me...her Dad was okay. Gonna take a little bit for him to come around, but he is concerned about his grandsons. I was smart and didn't introduce myself as the unemployed bum dating his daughter... LOL

As I pointed out above, Saratoga was huge, but Trenton was the most important battle ever fought. A loss at Trenton would have ended the war. The American success at Saratoga was largely the result of the arrogance of the British, primarily of General Burgoyne. Credit must be given though to Horatio Gates and Benedict Arnold, especially Arnold, later the traitor.
