Oh good Lord..... one has to read the UAE press releases to find out Friendly Island was retired.

Meanwhile, in other American news: Friendly Island, who finished second to Kelly’s Landing in the Dubai Golden Shaheen (Gr.1) on March 31 and to champion Thor’s Echo in last year’s Breeders’ Cup Sprint (Gr.1), has been retired after sustaining an ankle injury. Stud plans have not been announced for the six-year-old son of Crafty Friend who raced for the Anstu Stables of Anita and Stuart Subotnick. Trainer Todd Pletcher said that the injury would take too long to heal for Frienldy Island to be able to compete in this year’s Breeders’ Cup and so the decision was made to retire him, leaving his record at eight wins in 19 starts with earnings of US$1,369,714. * * * Happy retirement to Peeress, my favorite girl.
