This gentleman...Mr. Liviu Librescu...a hero indeed.

Can you imagine surviving the holocuaust....escaping the wrath of the most evil human being that has ever walked the face of this earth...only to be gunned down later in life in a tragedy such as this...all while trying to save the lives of others....

you are a true hero sir...

GPK,
I agree completely.
Not to get "preachy", but in my beliefs, I think there is a "higher power", One that put us on this blob of mud for a purpose. One that makes meaning out of the meaningless.
When Mr. Librescu's time to do that which he was saved to do, he did not hesitate. His life had meaning.

Yeah it's got me choked up. Real upsetting seeing that. So to those that are emotional i'd advise not looking at this stuff.

I checked this one out to make sure it wasn't made after the fact by some ass.hole. It's legit. This is the shooter's obsession, the one in the dorm...

i'm not an emotional person, not one who is sentimental (at least, not generally regarding humans, horses on the other hand....) or prone to tears...but this whole deal....

when they first replayed someones cell phone recording, i really thought i was going to lose it.

it is such a horrible, rotten thing to have happened. to have someone so off, so out of it, to be willing to go and do this to those poor people. it's awful.
my oldest is in connecticut, my first desire was to call him--i haven't seen him in a year. not going to see him til july, i can only imagine the gut-wrenching TERROR the parents of every v-tech student felt when they first heard the news.

there is nothing in the world scarier than having children! believe me, it's true. it doesn't get any easier when they get older, i promise you! it's very humbling. they can take you to your knees in a hurry.

it's funny, even when we go out, and it's been several years we've been able to go out sans kids. you walk thru a store (or wherever) and hear a kid yell 'mommy' and you know damn well it isn't your child, you still turn around!

Librescu,
What can you say about a man who lays his life down to save his students. That to me is just beyond heroism. I propose that this man be given a state funeral and be held up in the highest regards at VT forever. When everyone was running out and thinking only of themselves, he thought of everyone but himself. Wow such a sobering thought and a great example of oure love.
