He's likely to get in the Derby.

Depends what happens in the Lexington but I'd say it is about 60/40 for him right now. Matz doesn't want to run him back and then not have him ready for the Derby anyways so he'll wait it out and see if he gets in. I think he will as I think something is wrong with Xchanger (besides being slow). I think there is no way Officer Rocket goes and a solid chance that either Sedgefield or Storm in May opt out.

WTF!!!!!

Equirace.com didn't nominate Love Dubai?
Don't they know this is pretty much the last chance to get those much needed graded earnings? Sombody go alert the connections of this horse that they should run again this week and make it 3 races in 3 weeks. They must be holding out for the Derby Trial and then wheeling the horse back in the derby.... clever buggers

Actually the Derby Trial's not graded anymore.

If Albertus Maximus got in it would highly amuse me, to see two sons of Albert the Great in the Derby. He's one of those stallions that would really appreciate a notch like that in his belt since he's hardly commercial and flashy for 2yos. I hate to break it to Pletcher, and nothing against Soaring By, but he's got plenty in already.

From Downey's site:

Curlin in Good Shape; On Way to Kentucky. Curlin came out of the Grade II Arkansas Derby "without a pimple". He left Hot Springs this morning on the same flight with Storm in May, who, after a surprising second in the Arkansas Derby, will go on to the Kentucky Derby as well. Storm in May's stable mate, Delightful Kiss, fourth in the race, is also on the flight and will be pointed to a stakes race Derby week in Louisville. Bill Kaplan trains the pair.

Officer Rocket is out and I hope Sedgefield doesn't go, but it still is up in the air for Chelokee

Gotta love Derby fever, there was also this:

"Realistically, Storm in May is not going to beat that monster."--Trainer Bill Kaplan

Apparently that hasn't dissauded them at all.

I think he plans on getting one of his horses in each of the Triple Crown races. I'mawildandcrazyguy is going to the Belmont.

So we should expect to see Drums of Thunder return in the Preakness?

I'm looking forward to seeing Delightful Kiss run again.

When did Bill Kaplan start training Delightful Kiss? Unless there's some news Pete Anderson trains Delightful Kiss. They may have confused Kiss with Kaplan's Wildandcrazyguy as Storm in May's stablemate.

I didn't even seem him on the Graded Earnings list that was updated yesterday. I would like to see him in the Derby, but it just seems too much has to happen to get him in...

I think Chelokee gets in the Derby.
Does anyone know how many entires in the Lexington this year are actually running with the intention on wheeling back in the Derby in two weeks if they get the graded earnings?
It doesn't have the feel of a race that features desperate owners trying to get their horse to derby this year. I assume Belgravia would go, as it appears Biacone was pretty hell bent on trying to get Time Squared in last weekend.

Soaring By is the only one I know that the connections definitely want to get him in the Derby. Belgravia will not run in the Derby win or lose so I'll be rooting for him to win with a horse with zero earnings coming in second.

I see a number of folks on this thread like Soaring By in this race. I suggest going back and look closely at his race on the Fla Derby undercard. That was as weak a NW1 allowance run at this meet. He pressed extremely slow fractions, and struggled to get by a very mediocre horse (and held off another very mediocre horse). Even though he is bred to "go long" he did not appear to want to go long (I know he won). He also did not take "a lot of money" in the race (yeah I know he went off at 4-5, but if you look at the Past Performances of that race it would appear he should have been 1-5 vs those).

I advise this since he will obviously take a lot of money again (based on the connections) and unless the Poly improves him significantly I don't see him hitting the board.

I know this sounds completely crazy. . . but I think Pletcher wants this horse in the Derby to be used as a rabbit for CQ. . .
