have you checked out the planet earth series at all? excellent series, filming is exquisite. a lot of 'first time on camera' stuff, including a snow leopard hunt--beautiful cat!

I think they probably remember based on smell. They always are sticking those big nostrils up to you and blowing. I dont think their eyesight is that keen up close, but they might also recognize a certain walk or cadence (sp?) associated with the walk. Just my opinion based on being around my wife's group of beasts at various times throught the last 25 years or so.
