Personally, I thought Jara would do better than he has at Gulfstream. If it wasn't for K McL, he'd be...?
If the guy was going to publicy criticize a ride, I would have thought that would have been the one. The only purpose of that race was to run around the track and not get in trouble, yet he managed to find trouble. He could have run Invasor in the clear in the four path the entire race and won under wraps. Yet he chose to come up the rail looking for an opening! I thought after that there was a chance that you'd see someone else on him in Dubai.

Well, I'm only speaking for myself, but I don't refer to anyone by their race. That's like judging a book by it's cover... I don't think it's appropriate in any way, shape or form.

I don't know Grits, I have no idea what kind of person she is but even if she is "anti-Arab" who cares!!!! It's not illegal, it's a point of view. If it differs with your own, so be it. Stop being so offended. It's an opinion.

It's a racing board. I have no idea if any if y'all out there are sitting in your boxers with a white hood over your head sipping your herbal teas. I don't care. Thought police are everywhere looking to "out" anyone who thinks something that is "______-ist." You cannot bust someone for not liking someone. The world ain't full of just Kumbaya humming, granola chomping sandal sporting people. There are differences of opinion. Accept it.

I agree with Grits assessment of Hamdan's comments. Let him get in the hot box (an it might be a while) and hop aboard next time. Oops, that comment was "size-ist."

The thing I found most interesting in the entire article was that they apparently planned to take Discreet Cat from off the pace all along. What led them to that baffling decision is beyond me.

You're right. I'm not busting anyone for disliking someone else. That's their perogative. To dislike a person because they are a certain race is wrong, though. Dislike him because he's a bastard. That's fine...

Anyway, I'm off of my soap box. I shouldn't have said anything. I just didn't feel like the fact that he was Arab had anything to do with his disdain for Jara's ride.

It's not that she's not entitled to her difference of opinion, or her thought that the multiple inclusion of "Arab" was acceptable in that post when it was irrelevant. By all means, "Arab" away.

I don't have to like it though. And I have not classified her as any "______-ist" in any way.

When the gates sprung, DC was showing no run at all. I highly doubt this was some grandmaster plan set up by Sheik Mo, Surror, and Frankie to take back.

Unfortunately you are just 14 years too late.
I was just joking around with the signature thing.
Apparently you didn't think it was very funny.
Oh well.

I wasn't totally surprised by that statement. Lets say they were unsure of his effectiveness at 10F and thought he'd have a better chance running very easily behind the pace-setters, maybe do some drafting. Then asking him for speed only in the later stages. Ordinarily you wouldn't change tactics in a big race but they knew what they were up against with Invasor and PT. Perhaps they felt that DC was not going to be able to take those guys gate to wire so they decided to try something different. I don't know, just speculating.

Can you hear the drums fernando?
I remember long ago another starry night like this
In the firelight fernando
You were humming to yourself and softly strumming your guitar
I could hear the distant drums
And sounds of bugle calls were coming from afar

They were closer now fernando
Every hour every minute seemed to last eternally
I was so afraid fernando
We were young and full of life and none of us prepared to die
And Im not ashamed to say
The roar of guns and cannons almost made me cry

There was something in the air that night
The stars were bright, fernando
They were shining there for you and me
For liberty, fernando
Though I never thought that we could lose
Theres no regret
If I had to do the same again
I would, my friend, fernando

Now were old and grey fernando
And since many years I havent seen a rifle in your hand
Can you hear the drums fernando?
Do you still recall the frightful night we crossed the rio grande?
I can see it in your eyes
How proud you were to fight for freedom in this land

There was something in the air that night
The stars were bright, fernando
They were shining there for you and me
For liberty, fernando
Though I never thought that we could lose
Theres no regret
If I had to do the same again
I would, my friend, fernando

There was something in the air that night
The stars were bright, fernando
They were shining there for you and me
For liberty, fernando
Though I never thought that we could lose
Theres no regret
If I had to do the same again
I would, my friend, fernando
Yes, if I had to do the same again
I would, my friend, fernando...

They may have thouht that he was talented enough, that the only thing that could beat him would be getting caught in a speed duel with Kandidate.
Didn't he come from a bit off the pace in the derby last year over there? I can't remember exactly.

They didn't allow him to run at all in his final work--it was said to be a mile in 1:38, however, I think most agree it was more like 7 furlongs in 1:38.

The idea to try and drain all the speed out of him in his preperation, and than have Frankie take a hold and rate him out of the gate---yes it was incredibly stupid, but obviously something was bothering the horse. As he never was on the bridal and into the steel at any point.
